- Professor Gary Anderson was interviewed by The Age and ABC News on discovery of protein that causes lungs of patients with smoking-relating. The study which includes Associate Professor Steve Bozinovski and researchers from the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, in US, published in the journal of Proceedings of the National Academic of Science.
- Dr Shane Liddelow, was interviewed by the UniNews - 3 August, 2011 - "Standout Scholars Head to the US" - for being one of three University of Melbourne post-graduate scholars who had been awarded American Australian Association Fellowships to study at prestigious American institutions. - Ross Vlahos recently had his paper entitled “Neutralizing GM-CSF Inhibits Cigarette Smoke-Induced Lung Inflammation” accepted for publication in the leading respiratory journal American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine [2010 Mar 4; Epub ahead of print]. The American Thoracic Society put out a press release on 16 March and since then numerous web-based medical news sites have picked up on the article and have run stories.
